“Louanne Lee,” of the cult apologist site Scientology Myths, claims:
This is basically a question about a) whether Scientology is active on this issue at all and b) if the Church has an organizational viewpoint on the issue.
The answer to both questions is “no”. The Church of Scientology is not active in LGBT issues and never has been active in those issues.
A claim to the contrary is spread anonymously by members of the “Anonymous movement” who since day one of their criminal activities against the Church of Scientology have tried to gain the support of LGBT community leaders by inventing stories that the Church of Scientology would try to “cure” homosexuality or would treat homosexuals differently. These lies don’t hold water and the real makers in the LGBT have proven to be clever enough not to fall for lies of anonymous hate-mongers.
Why, then, is the Church of Scientology San Diego listed as among the endorsers of Proposition Eight, a proposed measure in California which would make gay marriage illegal?
That’s an odd sort of neutrality, to be sure…
The following also seems rather less than neutral:
The sexual pervert (and by this term Dianetics, to be brief, includes any and all forms of deviation in Dynamic II [i.e. sexuality] such as homosexuality, lesbianism, sexual sadism, etc., and all down the catalog of Ellis and Krafft-Ebing) is actually quite ill physically… he is very far from culpable for his condition, but he is also far from normal and extremely dangerous to society…
(L Ron Hubbard, Dianetics.)
