p2pnet news view Freedom | P2P:- Speaking of the Cult of Scientolgy, did you know there’s actually a street in Los Angeles named after L. Ron Hubbard, the dead founder?
Yup. There is.
And it’s not a p2pnet spoof.
“An inaugural walk down L. Ron Hubbard Way,” says the caption to the pic — “from left, Los Angeles City Council Member Richard Alatorre and City Council President John Ferraro, actor John Travolta, Church of Scientology International President Rev. Heber Jentzsch, Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan’s representative Chelsea Cochrane, and David Miscavige, Chairman of the Board Religious Technology Center.”
And the cult gets the street closed down every weekend.
Unphkinghbelieveable. But true.
The story, on the cult’s Freedom (cough, splutter) site, doesn’t have a date, but diligent research reveals CoS Way was spawned in 1997. Clearly, Tom Cruise hadn’t joined up at the time.
Imagine what it must be like to live there. Unless you’re Tiny Tom or Big John, of course.
But you don’t need to imagine because Sammi Franklin ‘(left) and free speech advocate Lisa Derrick can tell you all about it. They live there, and every weekend — every weekend — this public street is shut down by order of the cult so it can stage events.
