New Dianetics Book Site Launched By The Church of Scientology

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 17, 2008 — In celebration of the 58th anniversary of the release of Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, the Church of Scientology has now launched a new and interactive portal at for access to testimonials, videos, excerpts, home extension courses, and all information regarding Dianetics. The launch is also supported by a national television advertising campaign. By doing so, the Church of Scientology is able to provide expansive and enlightening information to those who have questions about Dianetics.

Hmm. I have some questions about Dianetics (quotations taken from 2005 paperback edition):
– Why does it describe homosexuality in the following terms:
“The sexual pervert (and by this term Dianetics, to be brief, includes any and all deviations in dynamic two such as homosexuality, lesbianism, sexual sadism, etc…) is actually quite ill physically… He is far from culpable for his condition, but he is also so far from normal and so extremely dangerous to society that the tolerance for perversion is as thoroughly bad for a society as punishment for it.” – Page 137

– Why does it describe abortion in these terms (particularly poigniant in light of the compulsory abortions policy of the Sea Org:
“A society which suppresses sex as evil and which is so aberrated that any member of it will attempt an abortion is a society which is dooming itself to ever-rising insanity. For it is a scientific fact that abortion attempts are the most important factor in aberration. The child on whom the abortion is attempted is condemned to live with murderers who he reactively knows to be murderers through all his weak and helpless youth!…. However many billions America spends every year on institutions for the insane and jails for criminals are spent primarily because of attempted abortions done by sex-blocked mother to whom children are a curse, not a blessing from God.” Page 173-174

– Why does it make the following claims about illness, and can the Church of Scientology back them up:
“Arthritis, dermatitis, allergic, asthma, some coronary difficulties, eye trouble, bursitis, ulcers, sinusitis, etc. form a very small section of the psychosomatic catalogue. Bizarre aches and pains in various parts of the body are generally psychosomatic. Migraine headaches are psychosomatic and, with the others, are uniformly cured by Dianetic therapy. (And the word cured is used in its fullest sense.)

“Just how many physical errors are psychosomatic depends upon how many conditions the body can generate out of the factors in the engrams. For example, the common cold has been found to be psychosomatic. Clears do not get colds.” Page 123. Note: psychosomatic illness is defined earlier in the chapter as “those which have a mental origin but which are nevertheless organic.”

Questions, questions.
