Police request for placard removal posted on YouTube

A Request to remove an “offensive” placard during a protest against Scientology, has earned East Grinstead’s police inspector a place on YouTube.

Insp Paul Scott asked for the removal of three placards during the demonstration at the war memorial in East Grinstead High Street on Saturday.

A video of him talking to one of the masked protesters has appeared on the popular video website along with others from the event.

For the first time in around four years, a group of around 30 protesters, including some from world-wide campaign group Anonymous, visited the town.

Hartley Patterson, one of the demonstrators, told the East Grinstead Courier: “It went very well, the police asked us to remove one particular placard which we did.”
