The Profit – an amateur film satirising the Church of Scientology and L Ron Hubbard in particular – was made in 2001 and shown to a handful of audiences before being banned by a court order due to allegations it could prejudice the court hearing in the Lisa McPherson case. While that injunction was lifted it has remained unavailable due to issues with Bob Minton, who was involved with the film but eventually bullied into submission by the cult.

And now it’s on the internet for all to see. Torrent from the Pirate Bay here.

While the quality of the film is debateable (watch a clip here), the cult’s obsessive attempts to prevent its circulation and the controversy it sparked between critics of Scientology give this leak a significance that shouldn’t be ignored.
