Largely ignored by the media so far has been the tragic story of Martine Boublil. Martine is the sister of Claude Boublil, a high-level Scientologist who runs the Celebrity Centre in Paris. She has a history of depression and had sought medical help. The Church of Scientology dealt with this by having her kidnapped, taken to Tunisia, and held against her will.
Martine was able to escape by writing SOS messages and dropping them outside. Neighbours then informed the authorities. When they found her the situation was described as follows:
She said she had been a Scientology member for eight years before leaving.
Several years later, she was hospitalized for depression.[...]
In Sardinia, she claims to have been forced to remain locked up in a
“disgusting room” on the first floor of the house, guarded by two young
people who did not speak to her, with a basin for sanitation and only a
tee-shirt for clothing.
The parallels between this case and that of Lisa McPherson are striking. Long-standing Scientologist requires medical attention which could involve the dreaded psychiatry. Other Scientologists take them and hold them by force in unsanitary and health-threatening conditions in an effort to “help.” The only difference is in this case people got through in time.
